Assistant Yard Manager/ Head girl.
Full time position. 5 day week to include some weekends. `
Daily start by 7am. There is flexibility in the hours throughout the day, but the successful applicant will be required during the afternoon.
Wage according to experience. Please note your wage expectation in your application.
The role includes overseeing the practical running of the yard, greeting and assisting clients, supervising / training other staff / trainees as well as being personally responsible for the day to day to care of 4 – 6 horses. You will be required to assist with visiting professionals, including farriers, physiotherapists, vets, saddle fitters and dentists.
A responsible, mature approach is essential, happy to be left in sole charge as required.
Successful applicants will:
Be confident and experienced in handling a wide range of horses. Be able to use their initiative, be efficient in all yard duties and take pride in their work.
Have a strong interest in horse welfare and ethical training.
Be familiar and efficient with presenting horses for work and appropriate after work care.
Be experienced in day to day care of all yard equipment, tack and horse clothing.
Have a good understanding of, or be keen to gain knowledge of, equine biomechanics. The role will include undertaking / supervising each horse’s individual strengthening and conditioning programme, as assigned by chartered physiotherapist Jo Spear.
Junior groom (x 2)
Part time position.
Start by 7am. Approx 2.5 hours / day.
Days negotiable. Minimum wage.
To undertake all morning duties including handling horses and mucking out to a high standard.
Scholarship Scheme Training Position. (Exam funding available)
Applicants must have left full time education. These are not apprenticeship vacancies.
From October 2015 we have a small number of vacancies for enthusiastic, dedicated people to join our team on a 6 month training program.
Successful applicants will be responsible for 3/4 horses and attend a 5 day week with training delivered by experienced, knowledgeable trainers.
Alongside daily ridden, stable management and / or teaching practice (if required) you will have the opportunity to observe and assist with visits from highly regarded visiting professionals.
